KUJATAMA Zeo is a natural super porous mineral (part of a group of hydrated alumino silicates). It carries a negative charge balanced by freely moving cations with positive charges. this provides an ideal trap for positive cations like nitrogen rich ammonium and potassium which are then released when demanded by plants. It's have a very open framework with a network of pores giving it a large surface area for trapping and exchanging valuable nutrients.

More efficient fertiliser use 
With the current high price of ammonium fertilisers zeolite can be used to extend their efficiency and performance. Blending fertiliser with zeolite can produce the same yield from less fertiliser applied because of the reduction of volatolization and leaching losses. It is particularly suitable for banding under drip irrigation planting where it will assist water infiltration, distribution and retention. When fertigation is practiced it will actively hold the nutrients in the rootzone.

More efficient water use 
Zeolite assists water infiltration and retention in the soil due to its very porous properties and the capillary suction it exerts. Acting as a natural wetting agent, it is an excellent amendment for non wetting sands and to assit water distribution through soils.

The role of zeolite 
Zeolite can hold nutrients in the root zone for plants to use when required. This leads to more efficient use of N and K fertilisers - either less fertiliser for the same yield or the same amount of fertiliser lasting longer and producing higher yields.

An added benefit of zeolite application is that unlike other soil amendments (gypsum and lime) it does not break down over time but remains in the soil to help improve nutrient and water retention permanently. With subsequent applications the zeolite will further improve the soil's ability to retain nutrients and produce improved yields.

And zeolite is not acidic. In fact it is marginally alkaline and its use with fertilisers can help buffer soil pH levels thus reducing the need for lime applications.

ZEOLITE IN SOIL NUTRIENT HOLDING & RELEASE 
Zeolite attracts and retains ammonium, potassium, calcium & magnesium as well as many trace elements. It has the greatest affinity for ammonium and potassium but when a plant is taking up the ammonium or potassium off the zeolite, the zeolite attracts calcium from phosphorus mineral apatite such as rock phosphate or locked up phosphorus in soil to balance the zeolites negative charge. This reaction releases a free phosphorus. The plant extracts the ammonium, potassium and other nutrients by active uptake from roots.

The nutrient release from the Zeolite is plant driven setting up a natural cycle of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus release. The Zeolite will recharge when an ammonium or potassium source becomes available either naturally or applied. The zeolite prevents free nutrients from leaching.

The growth / yield of Fish, Prawn, Shrimp depends largely on favorable water quality characteristics. Periodic water quality monitoring together with appropriate measure to control or prevent quality deterioratioration should become integral part of shrimp farming program.

The aqua marine animals release ammonia which is toxic in its un-ionized form and its toxicity varies with pH, salinity and temperature. Un-ionized form of ammonia is particularly damaging to fish grill membranes and retards their overall growth. KUJATAMA Zeo works as filter and helps in further mineralization and to oxidize Ammonia to a less toxic form. Mineralization is the process in which heterotrophic bacteria breakdown complex protein and organics into basic inorganic compounds. Ammonia is the most important by product of mineralization. The induce cavity of it's also provide extra oxygen which in turn help in faster the oxidation of ammonia to Nitrile and then to nitrate. Most fish are tolerant of Nitrate levels of 300-400ppm and above. To avoid stress on the fish the nitrate level should be monitored within 0-175ppm and water changes made to keep the level below 35-70ppm nitrate. Poor quality feed will cause severe quality problems by building up toxic ammonia, nitrate, hydrogen sulphide, increased BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) and COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) thereby inducing stress in fish, prawns and predisposing them to pathogenic inflections.

Remediation

When concentrations of pollutants exceed a certain level and present a threat to the environment or human health, remediation action are necessary (Misaelides, 2011). This process consists of two approaches: the extraction of pollutants from soil and water as well as the reduction of their mobility (Misaelides, 2011). While several products have been utilized for these purposes, the use of zeolite is a low-cost solution that provides a high sorption capacity with the ability to adjust the pH of soil and water systems. The application of natural zeolites to remediation processes is based on their ion exchange properties.

 A study by Motsi et al. (2009) studied the adsorption behavior of natural zeolite to determine its applicability in treating acid mine drainage containing lead, copper, zinc and magnesium. Researchers examined the rate of adsorption and the uptake at equilibrium in single and multi-component solutions. The results showed rapid uptake during the first 40 minutes, corresponding to an 80 percent total removal (Motsi et al., 2009). Following this initial uptake, the rate of absorption decreased. However, the overall results demonstrated that natural zeolite has significant potential as an alternative, low cost material in the treatment of acid mine drainage (Motsi et al., 2009).

Cui et al. (2006) explored a novel process for high-capacity remediation of acid rock drainage. The results indicated that using clinoptilolite in a slurry bubble column approached equilibrium after 30 minutes. Also, the adsorption of metal ions occurred within 10 minutes. The researchers found that smaller particles of zeolite showed significantly higher capacity and rates of adsorption than larger particles. Finally, the adsorption of zeolite particles differed for various metal ions, with a normalized order of iron, aluminum, copper, zinc, magnesium, and manganese.

Li et al. (2007) examined zeolite’s adsorptive capacity for aluminum, copper, iron, and zinc ions based on equilibrium tests using acid rock drainage. The results indicated that clinoptilolite adsorbed the four metals within 30 minutes. It also removed 64% of copper, 82% of iron, and 89% of aluminum. The researchers also found that clinoptilolite treated at a pH 1-5 for 144 hours showed minimal changes in its overall structure and remained stable. The results point to zeolite’s potential as a heavy metal adsorbent.

Pozzolan

In Portland cement, 10 to 25% of the cement can be replaced by KUJATAMA Zeo, which is a type N pozzolan that produces a light-weight cement. It can be applied by adding it to the concrete at the batch plant, or added at the cement plant after the kiln as minus 6 inch rock directly to the inter-grind circuit. The advantage of the latter method is that it does not go through the kiln, which substantially reduces fuel cost and carbon dioxide generation.

KUJATAMA Zeo increases compressive strength, reduces chloride permeability, decreases alkali-silica reactivity, resists sulfate and acid attack, and improves chemical resistance. Zeolite can be used instead of fly ash, which contains heavy metals and is hazardous to humans.
